Day 4: ¡Da media vuelta!

Today, I learned that YouTube artist Ryan Higa starts each day with a sonnet, too! He mentions it in his parody Shed A Tear (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/k/kevin+wu+ryan+higa/shed+a+tear_20910075.html).

So anyway, after Laura and I read Sonnet 4 and cooked a pot of rice this morning, we hopped in the car with Papa and Priya to explore George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park! Having drunk in the beautiful scenery on the way, our first stop was Switzer Lake, where we took an opportunity to snap some photographs and skip some stones. I was elected "Best Rock Selector," as the stones I found for Papa always ended up skipping the farthest!

We turned around from the lake to visit Shenandoah, hoping to find a hiking trail, and were waylaid by dozens of gorgeous lookouts en route.

Soon, we came upon a path which connects to the famous 2,181-mile Appalachian Trail! We went for a short walk, rife with mockery of my slow pace and references to how much our excursion resembled that of Lewis and Clark. (Laura, of course, wanted to be Sacagawea).

As we drove home through the clouds, it began to rain. The mountains were entirely shrouded in a mist which, although it caused us to overlook some overlook points, nevertheless added a special air of beautiful mystery to the last one at which we stopped.

Having left this last splendid sight, we headed home, captive to Priya's "intriguing" music tastes. A car ride of spicy sandwiches and juvenile jokes was followed by Laura's departure -- we can't wait to see her again!
